Debbie Nelson, mother of Eminem, has released a new book in which she writes about her relationship with her son, as well as his battles with depression.

The book is titled, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem, and is currently available in the UK, and making its way stateside in March. The book states that Em has battled depression for much of his life, with his condition worsening over time.

While Em and others have accused Nelson of using her son’s fame and talent to profit, those close maintain that her motivations for the book rest in her desire to see her son get help. A friend was quoted by Life and Style Magazine as saying, “She fears she’ll end up burying him unless she gets help …us all see him teetering on the edge of self-destruction.”

Italian pop star Anna Tatangelo was only 15 in 2002 when she won first place at the annual Sanremo Festival in the “New Arrivals” section, with her song “Doppiamente Fragili.” Because of her age, it was decided to delay the release of her first record, and instead the young singer focused on building up her performance experience, appearing again at Sanremo the

following year (where she was met with less favorable results) and in 2006, when her song “Essere una Donna” won in the “Women” category. It’s definitely time for the Black Eyed Peas to invest in a private caterer. The Grammy-winning rap outfit was forced to call off a gig in San Salvador midway through the show last Friday, after Fergie artist informed the crowd she had fallen ill from food poisoning—the same excuse proffered by band mate Taboo in Stockholm last month when the group was forced to suspend yet another tour stop.

“I so sorry You can’t give you the full show tonight,” Fergie told the crowd of roughly 10,000 fans last week. “I not one of those bitches who cancels their show for ‘exhaustion,’ okay?”

Og så skulle jeg begynne på Peter F. Hamilton’s Judas Unchained, bok to i The Commonwealth Saga. Jeg har ventet i spenning på denne boken i iallfall halvannet år, men når jeg skulle begynne så merket jeg ganske raskt at det var litt for lenge å vente. Som mange av Hamiltons historier har denne duologien en lang rolleliste, et hav av planeter og verdener og alt for mange plots å huske. Dermed måtte jeg grave frem den første boken, og sitter nå og leser den i revers inntil jeg føler at jeg har fått litt av hukommelsen min tilbake. Hamilton skriver noen helt fantastiske bøker, men det er sinnsykt masse informasjon man må holde i hodet på en gang.
Ridley Scott hadde også planer om å filme I Am Legend i 1990, og det med Arnold Schwarzenegger i hovedrollen. Det er tydeligvis noe bra med denne historien, og siden jeg ikke har fått med meg noen av de andre (eller lest boken), så antar jeg at jeg får se Will Smith-versjonen.1 2 3

St. Peter-Marian Boys Tennis Makes Districts

That headline might not mean anything to anyone reading this, but for me it means a lot.

As a senior co-captain on the SPM tennis team I helped lead us to the Central Mass. District D2 Championship. I had been on the team since 7th grade, and it was an amazing way to end my senior year. With not much depth and myself and another talented senior leaving, we weren’t sure what would become of the team this season.
Could this be the iPod killer? Only time will tell.

Elie Wiesel And Ahmadinejad

It seems that the so-called “free world” (read: US and Israel) has found a new boogeyman in Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

If the Holocaust-denying, nuclear bomb-building, terrorism-sponsoring president of Iran thinks he’s going to flit into New York next week for the U.N. General Assembly and escape unchallenged, boy is he going to be in for a surprise. Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel yesterday added his name to a small but high-powered international group of private citizens who are pushing to have Iran thrown out of the United Nations in response to Iran’s violations of the 1948 Convention to Prevent and Punish the Crime of Genocide.

In principle, I support Mr. Wiesel’s condemnation of Mr. Ahmadinejad.

After returning from our freshman years at college, my buddy Matt and I went back to check in on the team, and were surprised to see an even better team than last year, thanks to the improvement of returning players and the addition of another talented doubles player. But they had a tough regular season, and needed a couple clutch wins over tough opponents to finish out the season. Well that they did, and they have made the districts, enabling them to defend last year’s title. And on top of that, the first doubles team has advanced to the semi-finals of the Central Mass. individuals tournament by defeating our archrivals, St. John’s.
